New Toy (JEEP Wrangler Rubicon)

My new Jeep, yes a Rubicon with the works! Believe it or not my CX-7 lease has ended and I was offered this Jeep at such a value price it would have cost me nearly the same amount to buy the car at the lease end. Those of you that have known me awhile know I had a Jeep like this in the past, I missed it (as Brandi sure knows with me talking about it from time to time). I’ll have more photos later on.

Diesel Jeep Wranglers in the US, WHY NOT?!

Jeep Wrangler Diesel

As many of you know I am a believer of the diesel engine for many reasons which I will not bore you with right now. What puzzles me the most is why JEEP does not offer (or is not allowed to sell) diesel Wranglers in the USA, yet it is available in other countries like Australia, go figure. Here is the link right to JEEP’s own Australian website. I am a full blooded American but on somethings like our politics, (right) left winged environmentalist and corporate businesses I am left wondering, they need to WAKE UP!

It is somewhat a sad day, but also a very positive one.

Back in the summer of 2004 I purchased this Vento Triton R4 Scooter after collecting on an insurance claim (it covered the cost because I repaired the damaged truck myself). After driving this scooter almost every day I could, and when weather permitted, it soon starting getting darker early in the day as the calendar year progressed. Along the year I found many other upgrades during my internet searches for this scooter, so of course I did these upgrades. The searches however fell short in finding a better and brighter headlight so that I could see easier at night. It seems Vento really missed the mark on the brightness of the headlight and nothing could be had anywhere to improve this headlight. I quickly realized that I would have to develop my own plan for this problem, so off I went. I created a very low cost but 30% brighter headlight and tail / brake light kit. The only draw back was I had to purchase parts for this kit in very high quantities. Needless to say I made these high quantity purchases while also thinking I could just sell them over time knowing that I had a few connections on scooter web forums that could be an outlet to sell them. I created the very simple html web page with a Paypal buy now button, to my amazement I could not believe how well they sold. In the first two months I sold all the initial kits, so I ordered another round of kits and to this day we still sell them.

This is how the THOUGHT OUT…Company was initially started.

So today is somewhat a sad day, it is time for the scooter to go, but also a very positive one with all that this little yellow scooter has brought to me.

In Connecticut this scooter technically does not require registration. Even though this scooter was purchased and titled with a 49cc engine, to our surprise during the many upgrades listed below we found this model was built with the quality 100cc Yamaha engine from the factory. Driving as a fair day scooter, it is very clean. Extremely fast +55-60 MPH. Only Amsoil synthetic oil used for oil tank and transmission. mileage 1387. Includes all the non stock upgrades plus a custom cover and a matching full face helmet, unused (with cover) Continue reading →

The 3 foot (2 foot shown) soft flexible cable is slender yet developed for secure form-able positioning. With small coiling abilities it is compact enough for travel and it is a great solution for those long flights.

A Childhood Favorite “PIZZA HUT”

Can I just say “OMG . . . I LOOOOVE THIS PIZZA!” My most favorite is the Supreme . . . Oh man I soooo wish we had a Pizza Hut close to our home. I’d seriously have a pizza addiction if we did so it’s probably a good thing that there isn’t one closer. I’m not entirely sure why the fetish, there’s nothing fancy about it and it’s not overly pricey. I think it has alot to do with my father taking us kids out for dinner and most times it would be to Pizza Hut, probably got a good bang for his buck there. LOL! Feeding 4 kids and in later years it was 6 kids so one had to stretch the dollar right . . . good grief, can you imagine . . . i sure can’t! So is it the memory of actually going out for dinner as a kid, we didn’t do it very often and I remember being ecstatically thrilled each time we had a dinner out. Or is it the fantabulous taste of the supreme toppings ontop of the crunchy greasy crust? Or perhaps it’s that they offer plain O iced tea (no sugar in it) love that too. I admit that it’s all of those reasons and will always have a humble love toward the pizza under the hut . . . ememem.

I decided to write about this pizza fetish because I tend to forget some of the good things and this was one of them. I was reminded of this fetish recently when Mike and I ventured up to Winsted to sign the paperwork for his new motorcycle (you remember reading that post as well right?) well, it was a work night and we needed to eat. So we pulled out the GPS and punched in restaurants to get a gander at was available on our trail back home. “OMG”, I said to Mike “THEY HAVE A PIZZA HUT!!!”. Pure joy and excitement all over my face. “CAN WE PWEEEAAAASE?” And you know Mike hardly ever tells me NO so there ya go, I punched in Pizza Hut (glee all over my face and my feet were swinging back and forth like a kid) and the GPS had us on our way to the great Pizza Land. I think they’re all decorated the same and have the same carpet, tables and curtains from when I was a kid. It was like stepping back in time, a little strange and a bit unsettling but we still ate there. They even still have the paper place mats that when turned over there are mazes and puzzles for kids. “HEY, DOES ANYONE HAVE A PEN OR HEY MISS WAITRESS, MAY I HAVE A CRAYON AND PLEASE MAKE IT A RED ONE?” LOVED this place and all it stood for, the pure simplicity of this restaraunt is humbling. Eeeeeennnny way . . . definately a nice memory and my craving for this pizza remains very active 20 plus years later. Isn’t that sumpton. 🙂
